The Barbados Football Association (BFA) Coaching Education Department is committed to excellence in coaching education. The goal of the Barbados Football Association Coaching Education Department is to be an innovator in coaching and increase opportunities for achieving excellence at every level.

We have seen a rapid increase in coaches taking part in our coaching course. At this moment, we have more than 200 coaches that have received training from the federation. Today, there are 171 licensed coaches, 118 D License coaches, 37 C License coaches and 16 B License coaches.

According to the Barbados Football Association coach’s database there are 13 female licensed coaches and 158 male licensed coaches.

We believe that at the grassroots level there is a set of fundamental principles that should be considered by every coach – instruct players in formalized settings and create environments to allow the game to teach players to experience the game. Players at this level must be given a certain amount of uninterrupted play, which allows them to experiment, and with that, succeed or fail.

As we look ahead, our coaching education main goals are to raise the coaching standards and continue to provide quality coaching education for all coaches. With commitment and teamwork, it is my believe that Barbados coaches will continue to grow and develop to train our players the right way.

The Barbados Football Association Coach Education Strategic Plan outlines a comprehensive framework to enhance the quality, effectiveness, and sustainability of coach education programs from 2026 to 2027. The plan is built on four strategic pillars:

1. Coach Convention and Conference
2. Capacity Building
3. Digital Transformation
4. League Coaches

Overall, the strategic plan aims to strengthen the coach education program, support the development of a qualified coaching workforce, and enhance the quality and standards of competitions and clubs. By implementing this strategic plan, Barbados Football Association will be better positioned to achieve its goals and deliver positive outcomes for coaches, players and the football community.
