CLUB LICENSING

Club Licensing is a CONCACAF structured process designed to ensure that BFA football clubs meet minimum standards in key areas such as development, infrastructure, administration and personnel, legal and governance matters, financial management, and social responsibility.

The Barbados Football Association (BFA), in conjunction with COncacaf has established the licensing requirements for its clubs wishing to take part in its local competitions. Clubs are to submit an annual application with supporting documents, after which the Club Licensing Manager and assessors review the information, inspect facilities where necessary, identify deficiencies, and give clubs an opportunity to address outstanding requirements within established deadlines.

Once the assessment is completed, the club’s application is submitted to an independent First Instance Body (FIB), which determines whether the required licence should be granted, granted subject to permitted conditions or sanctions, or refused. A club that is refused a licence may appeal to an independent Appeals Body in accordance with the licensing regulations. Importantly, sporting success alone does not guarantee participation in regional competitions: a club must achieve the required sporting qualification, obtain the appropriate club licence, and satisfy the applicable competition entry and financial requirements.
